Riders Cafe @ Bukit Timah Saddle Club

Care for a ride?

The trotting of the horses slowly amplified itself as we neared the saddle club; our minds were constantly revolving around the prospective brunch which we were going to have.. yummy, Rider’s Cafe!

Egg’s Benedict – $14.00

Lo and behold. What a sight. If you’re thinking right now if it tastes as good as it looks, you’re wrong. It’s even BETTER! =) The creamy yellow hollandaise sauce was strewn intricately over the ham and slightly toasted English muffin, with the proudly poached egg sandwiched snugly in between. Our lips quivered for it, our taste buds longed for it. Let’s go! As our forks wove swiftly through our brunch, the aroma and fragrance emanated through our noses. Take a whiff. It is that good. There is something about breakfast-brunch which just lightens up our spirits and make us enjoy that serenity in the morning. And the ambience of the place simply enveloped us to just slow down, enjoy the moment, bask in it. The fainty salted ham together with the sweet muffin was accompanied perfectly by the silky yolk of the al-dente poached egg. Very Q! It had a generous serving of breakfast potatoes at the side, which was peppery and gave a refreshing taste with the eggs. The flavours blended together perfectly and our mood lightened. This is yummy. Highly recommended! Best way to begin a lazy saturday morning. Neigh!

Morning Pancakes with Berries Compote – $10.00

Early in the morning, I wouldn’t be surprised if all we were craving for were some morning pancakes with a divine whiff of yumminess. As our cutlery sunk through oh-so-effortlessly through the fluffy pancakes, have some of the berries compote together with it, mix in some of the home-made whipped cream and syrup and there you have it, cloud nine in your mouth! Delish. Forgive my neologism but with this dish, any adjective with positive connotation may well be an understatement! Haha. An excuse for poor vocabulary I know. Whoa and do not forget to spread the butter too! Have it together with a cool icy cup of mocha and a perfect breakfast is born.

The atmosphere was homely-it is non-air conditioned with a sunny hue, the surroundings were cosy and the food was excellent. What more can we ask for? However, one look at the address and it is not uncommon to have the question popping into our minds-where is this place? Well it is rather close to the PIE nearby if you are driving but there isn’t any bus that pops by directly. So you may consider cabbing from the bus stop at say, Coronation Plaza down the road? Walking may not be very ideal, especially today, it was drizzling somewhat. I’m not sure about hitch-hiking.

The surroundings were very scenic, picturesque. Horses roaming around their stables, together with the lush green vegetation; and when I saw the little girl sitting confidently atop the horse together with her family around her, I was so envious! We certainly haven’t rode any horses before, so deprived right? Oops. =)

So all in all, highly recommended! Cheers! =D

sistafood: heyy there =) oh yea! without a cab we were walking and it seemed endless from the main road! if only we could ride the horses out hah. hmm oh yea prive is pretty inaccessible too but it’s near vivo so i guess that makes it more bearable. how was cafe hacienda? gotta try their breakfast too! =)

joce: harloe, no worries it’s actually pretty near the PIE exit so it should be fine. you’re more navigation-friendly than i am. HAH. but sure a gprs will come in handy if you’re planning to like go orchard after that to continue a fantastic weekend.

  4. Prive is walking distance from vivo. Good pancakes and milkshake.
Cafe Hacienda has excellent sticky date pudding! Vanilla bean ice-cream was absolutely divine.. We had more desserts than breakfast items for brunch. LOL. You can check out our review on Cafe Hacienda in our blog. 🙂
